Roy van Keulen is an equity analyst for Morningstar Australasia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers the technology sector.
Before joining Morningstar in 2021, Van Keulen conducted a Ph.D. study on the impact of the digital revolution and worked as a management consultant advising businesses in various industries on their strategic positioning for the digital age. Van Keulen also developed several award-winning frameworks for assessing the future competitive environment of companies.
Van Keulen holds a doctorate in philosophy of technology from Leiden University. He also holds master's degrees in law and philosophy from Leiden University.
Angus Hewitt, CFA, is an equity analyst for Morningstar. He covers gaming and consumer sectors across Australia and New Zealand.
Before joining Morningstar in 2015, Hewitt worked as an equity associate at Commonwealth Securities.
Hewitt holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Australian National University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Nicki has over 20 years of experience in the financial services and technology industry spanning across research and development, operations, and product management.
Through her engagement with financial professionals, researchers, and academics from around the globe, Nicki brings with her unique insights and perspectives on financial risk, risk profiling, risk tolerance, suitability, and financial planning to deliver practical and proven solutions that meet and exceed stakeholders' expectations.
Nicki has a background in Commerce (Finance and Information Systems), Psychology, and Financial Planning.
Johannes Faul, CFA, is a director, ANZ, for Morningstar. He covers the Australian retail sector, including consumer staples Woolworths and Coles, as well as discretionary retailers like Wesfarmers.
Before joining Morningstar in 2016, Faul has had over 10 years’ experience as a sell-side equity analyst, including at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the Bank of Montreal, and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Prior to that, he worked in corporate finance at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Faul holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Cologne. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Mark Taylor is a senior equity analyst, ANZ, for Morningstar. He covers energy and mining services and is responsible for researching Australian-listed companies, focusing on resources stocks.
Taylor joined Aspect Huntley in 2003 and was with the firm when Morningstar acquired it in 2006. He also worked for Shaw Stockbroking as a research analyst and corporate finance executive.
Taylor holds a bachelor's degree and a graduate diploma in mineral economics from Macquarie University.
Shan Ponraj is an equity analyst for Morningstar. He covers the healthcare sector.
Before joining Morningstar in 2019, Ponraj spent more than four years working for a boutique Australian fund manager Renaissance Asset Management
Ponraj holds a Bachelor of Engineering (mechatoronic) and a Bachelor of Commerce in finance from the University of Sydney. He also olds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation
Lochlan Halloway is a strategist, ANZ, for Morningstar. He provides broad analysis of the Australian and New Zealand stock markets based on intrinsic valuations generated by our equity research team. Halloway also contributes to fundamental research on ASX-listed companies, namely in the consumer, industrials, and basic materials sectors.
Before joining Morningstar in 2023, Halloway was an adviser at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He previously worked as an economist at Westpac.
Halloway holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons and University Medal) from the University of Sydney and a master’s degree in financial economics from the University of Oxford.
Brian Han is a director, ANZ, for Morningstar. He covers the telecommunications, media, and leisure sectors across Australia and New Zealand. His responsibilities encompass corporate strategy assessment, financial analysis, equity valuation and investment recommendation formulation. Han has been performing and honing these skills since 1997, following companies in fast-changing industries at the very coal face of technological disruptions.
Before joining Morningstar in 2023, Halloway was an adviser at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. He previously worked as an economist at Westpac.
Before joining Morningstar in 2014, Han was a senior research analyst at Fat Prophets, a fund manager at Constellation Capital Management, and an analyst at Citigroup, Credit Suisse UK, and BZW/ABN Amro. While most of his career has been spent on the sell-side covering a variety of global sectors, Han also boasts significant experience on the buy-side and as an equities strategist.
Han has bachelor's degrees in commerce (finance) and law, both from the University of New South Wales. He also has a postgraduate diploma in applied finance and investment from Finsia.
Mathew Hodge, CFA, is a regional director, ANZ, for Morningstar*. His primary responsibility is to help the team to perform and efficiently communicate fundamental equity research with our clients in mind. His responsibilities include setting priorities for the team, hiring, people management, providing feedback, career development and promoting our research to the business and clients. Fundamental to the role is creating and maintaining an inclusive environment where the team can do its best work. He also helps develop and implement research methodologies on an ad-hoc basis.
Prior to mid-2021, Hodge was a director on the team and covered the metals and mining sector, including the large-cap global majors. Prior mid-2019, he was a senior resources analyst covering the metals and mining sector. Hodge joined Morningstar equity research via the acquisition of Aspect Huntley in 2006. In addition, Hodge has sat on Morningstar's economic moat committee since 2014. More recently, he led the refresh of our capital allocation methodology in 2020 and was the inaugural chair of the subsequently formed capital allocation committee.
Prior to joining Aspect Huntley in 2001 previously worked in mining, principally as a mining engineer in underground coal. Hodge studied mining engineering at the University of New South Wales and worked as a mining engineer in underground coal. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Ashley has worked in the Finance Industry for 20 years with his last role as Director of Institutional Sales at S&P Global. His role at S&P Global was servicing the Funds Management Industry providing data, analytical services and research. Prior to S&P Global Ashley spent 9 years at BT Financial Group as a Senior Research Analyst covering managed funds and listed equities for the wealth manager. He also began his career in Superannuation at Russell Investments within a customer services role. Ashley is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA).
